About Kavim
Art market intelligence for institutional allocators.
1 — Why Kavim exists
The art market is the last major asset class without a structured reading layer. Equity markets have Bloomberg. Fixed income has rating agencies. Real estate has indices and appraisal standards. Art has auction catalogues, dealer relationships, and editorial opinion — none of which are designed for institutional decision-making.
Kavim was built to close that gap. It provides a systematic, evidence-based framework for reading art market conditions — not as a replacement for expertise, but as the structured layer that expertise has always lacked.
The Kavim Art Index (KAI) measures momentum, liquidity depth, and participation breadth across 120 blue-chip artists in active coverage. It produces structured verdicts, regime classifications, and documentation-grade outputs designed for allocators, advisors, and compliance workflows.
2 — What Kavim is not
Kavim is a market reading system. It is not any of the following:
✕An investment advisor. Nothing produced by Kavim constitutes investment advice, financial advice, or a solicitation to buy or sell any asset.
✕An appraisal service. Kavim does not produce artwork valuations, condition reports, or provenance assessments.
✕A price database. Kavim does not publish hammer prices, dealer quotes, or private sale data. It derives signals from verified transaction records.
✕A prediction engine. KAI measures current conditions. It does not forecast future market direction, price movements, or artist trajectories.
✕An editorial product. Kavim does not publish market commentary, artist profiles, or curatorial opinion. All outputs are structured and methodology-derived.
3 — What Kavim is
→A structured market intelligence system covering 120 blue-chip artists across Post-War, Contemporary, and Ultra-Contemporary segments.
→A composite index (KAI, 0–100) measuring momentum, liquidity depth, and participation breadth, updated weekly from verified transaction data.
→A decision-support layer producing structured verdicts (ACCUMULATE / HOLD / AVOID) with confidence scores and time horizons for each covered artist.
→A compliance-grade documentation framework aligned with AML due diligence, MiFID II suitability requirements, and ESG / alternative asset reporting obligations.
→A platform for institutional allocators, family offices, art funds, and advisors who need a systematic, auditable basis for art allocation decisions.
4 — Methodology
The KAI methodology is published in full at kavim.io/index/methodology. The coverage universe and selection criteria are documented at kavim.io/coverage/methodology. Both documents are versioned and updated when material changes are made to the underlying methodology.
Current version: KAI Methodology v1.1 (May 2026). Coverage universe: 120 artists.
